Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of a Rational Emotive Behavior counseling program in developing marital flourishing among a sample of married female students at the University of Diyala. The researcher adopted an experimental approach using a two-group design (experimental and control groups) with pre- and post-tests. The research sample consisted of 20 female students, with 10 students assigned to the control group and 10 to the experimental group. The researcher employed a Marital Flourishing Scale specifically developed for the purposes of this study. A counseling program consisting of 10 counseling sessions was designed based on the Rational Emotive Behavior approach. The data were then statistically analyzed to test the study hypotheses. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the two groups on the pre- and post-tests in favor of the experimental group, indicating the effectiveness of the counseling program in developing marital flourishing among female students at the University of Diyala. In light of the findings, the researcher recommends launching developmental initiatives aimed at enhancing marital flourishing among married individuals, given its positive impact on their family lives and its role in helping them cope with life crises and stressors.
