Abstract

The study of topic of academic promotion obstacles in Iraqi law reveals some things that affect the research path of the University Service Employee, and helps to understand the obstacles that may hinder academic promotion, and through the analysis of these obstacles, it becomes clear that achieving scientific promotion requires compliance with specific criteria such as meeting the conditions of academic publication and completing the minimum required points, as well as that disciplinary punishment may lead to delaying promotion or depriving the University Service Employee of it for a certain period, and the decisive role played by the quality of scientific research in promotion through its originality and not derived from previous theses and dissertations, as well as the length of time that spent by the University Service Employee in the current scientific rank before applying for promotion with the possibility of early application under certain conditions
